�ֲ���ý

With sadness, the �ֲ���ý shares the passing of Mark C. Alliegro on October 9, 2023 in Campton, N.H. Dr. Alliegro was a senior scientist in the �ֲ���ý’s Josephine Bay Paul Center from 2007 to 2015. He was a member of the �ֲ���ý Society from 1998-2014.

Prior to joining the �ֲ���ý's resident science staff, Dr. Alliegro was a Whitman Fellow in 1997 and 1998 and a Whitman Scientist in 2006 and 2007. His wife, Mary Ann Alliegro, who survives him, was also employed at �ֲ���ý as a scientist.

A cell biologist with a background in biochemistry and molecular biology, Dr. Alliegro was interested in the genesis of the cell division center (the centrosome and its functional equivalents), both in the living cell and from an evolutionary standpoint.
